French property sales trends
The recent Observatoire survey on BNP Paribas International Buyers (March 2009) gave some incredible insights on the strength of the French property market.
It appears that whilst other European property markets are suffering, more people are actually purchasing property for sale in south France than they were previously - more mortgages were taken out by non-resident buyers in France in the fourth quarter of 2008 than during the same period in 2007.
Only 28% of property investors surveyed felt that their future projects to invest in property in France had been affected by the financial crisis, and over 90% were still confident that they had made a safe investment by purchasing in France.
However, when asked for what reasons one might hesitate before purchasing an investment property in France, the top response (35% of respondents) was because of the complex legal system.
